T.2251 of 1989

IN THE MATTER OF AN APPLICATION BY THE POLICE ASSOCIATION OF TASMANIA TO VARY THE POLICE AWARD

RE: RECREATION LEAVE LOADING

PRESIDENT

HOBART, 27 September 1989

REASONS FOR DECISION

APPEARANCES:

For the Police Association of Tasmania

- Mr M. Kadziolka

For the Commissioner of Police

- Inspector R. Ames

DATE AND PLACE OF HEARING:

21 December 1989   Hobart

This is an application by The Police Association of Tasmania (the Association) for a variation to the amount of the maximum recreation leave allowance specified in Clause 18.2.3 of the Police Award.

Mr M Kadziolka, appearing for the Association, explained that the simple purpose of the claim was to align the Police Award with a comparatively recent change to the General Conditions of Service Award relating to the maximum amount for the recreation leave allowance1: the Police Award has "mirrored" this particular provision since its inception. The claimed amendment aligns the maximum amount to the rate specified for a first year of service, Class IX, Administrative and Clerical employee under the Clerical Employees Award.

Mt Kadziolka requested that the date of operation be 1 January 1990, which is the commencement of the leave year in the Police Department.

Inspector R Ames, appearing for the Commissioner of Police, supported the application and the operative date claimed.

As indicated at the hearing, I endorse the application and an order is attached.

P. Imlach
COMMISSIONER
