DATE AND PLACE OF HEARING:

26 April 1990   Hobart

In this matter the Federated Liquor and Allied Industries Employees' Union of Australia, Tasmanian Branch (FLAIEU) sought the variation of the Hotels, Resorts, Hospitality and Motels Award to incorporate 3 per cent Occupational Superannuation provisions.

Mr Sherry appearing for the FLAIEU submitted that following lengthy and involved negotiations with Mr Brotherson appearing for the Tasmanian Confederation of Industries (TCI) the proposed variation to the award is by consent of the parties.

Mr Sherry comprehensively outlined the details of the proposed variations to the two Divisions in this award. Division A relates to employees in Hotels, Taverns or Wine Saloons; Division B to Motels.

Mr Sherry explained the strict nexus of the award with the Hotels, Resorts and Hospitality Industry Award and the Motels Award, both of which are awards of the Australian Industrial Relations Commission (AIRC). In that context the variations requested to be made to the award reflect those made by the AIRC.

Mr Brotherson supported the submissions of Mr Sherry.

I am satisfied that the variations requested to be made are in accordance with the Wage Fixing Principles. Accordingly the award will be varied, operative from 1 June 1990.

The order will issue in due course.
