IN THE TASMANIAN INDUSTRIAL COMMISSION

Industrial Relations Act 1984

T.2640 of 1990

IN THE MATTER OF AN APPLICATION BY THE TASMANIAN PUBLIC SERVICE ASSOCIATION TO VARY THE PORT ARTHUR AUTHORITY AWARD

RE: KILOMETREAGE ALLOWANCE

DEPUTY PRESIDENT

HOBART, 22 August 1990

REASONS FOR DECISION

APPEARANCES:

For the Tasmanian Public Service Association

- Mr K Grey

For the Chairman Port Arthur Historic Site Management Committee

- Mr J McCabe

DATE AND PLACE OF HEARING:

21 August 1990  Hobart

In this matter the Tasmanian Public Service Association (TPSA) have sought to increase kilometreage rates contained in the Port Arthur Authority Award.

Such application relies upon the existence of a formula established by a Full Bench in matter T. No 33 of 1985. Since that time there has developed a pattern of applying such formula each six months following the release of CPI figures relating to travel costs for vehicle users.

Both parties have consented to the variation sought and testified to the accuracy of the figures detailed in the application.

I am satisfied on the evidence that the application is justified on merit and is consistent with the requirements of both the Principles of Wage Fixation relating to allowances and Section 36 of the Act (public interest).

Accordingly the award will be varied in the manner sought.

OPERATIVE DATE

This variation shall have effect from the first full pay period to commence on or after 21 August 1990.

Order is attached.

A Robinson
DEPUTY PRESIDENT
