Second minimum rates adjustment

This matter concerns an application by the Shop Distributive and Allied Employees Association (SDAEA) to vary the Retail Trades Award to provide for the second minimum rates adjustment in accordance with the arrangements ratified in the Full Bench decision of 20 December 1990.1

The variation sought is in accordance with the provisions of Clause 21 (Minimum Rates Adjustment), in that the minimum rate adjustment shall be applied, at six-monthly intervals until 1 July 1992, to the classification of "Assistant (iii) 3rd year's adult experience and thereafter" in Section `A' of Clause 8 (Wage Rates) of the award.

The application, and its operative date, was supported by the Tasmanian Confederation of Industries and the Tasmanian Chamber of Retailers, and was not opposed by the Transport Workers' Union.

Accordingly the adjustment is approved, operative from 1 July 1991. The order is attached.
