TASMANIAN INDUSTRIAL COMMISSION

Industrial Relations Act 1984
s.23 application for award or variation of award

The Amalgamated Footwear and Textile Workers' Union of Australia,
Tasmanian Branch

(T.3392 of 1991)

BOOTMAKERS AWARD

COMMISSIONER R.K. GOZZI

HOBART, 4 November 1991

Structural Efficiency Principle - second stage

REASONS FOR DECISION

In this matter The Amalgamated Footwear and Textile Workers' Union of Australia, Tasmanian Branch, sought the variation of the Bootmakers Award in respect of the second stage structural efficiency adjustment.

It should be noted that the Bootmakers Award provides limited coverage in that the "primary" award in this industry is the federal "The Footwear-Manufacturing and Component Industries Award, 1979". That award has been varied for the second structural efficiency adjustment.

In this matter currently before the Commission in respect of the Bootmakers Award I was notified that the parties had undertaken a review of the award to modernise some of the existing provisions and to introduce enterprise agreements and structural efficiency clauses. The proposed variations to the award were set out in Exhibit D1 which was submitted by Mrs Dowd appearing for the Federated Clerks Union of Australia, Tasmania Branch.

Having regard to the substance of the matters placed before the Commission the award will be varied operative from the first full pay period to commence on or after 27 September 1991.

The order [correction order] is attached. [See T3392 - Supplementary Decision]
