s.23 application for award or variation of award

Federated Liquor 8 Allied Industries Employees' Union of Australia
Tasmanian Branch
(T.3720 of 1992)

LICENSED CLUBS AWARD

DEPUTY PRESIDENT A ROBINSON

HOBART 29 April 1992

Superannuation

REASONS FOR DECISION

This matter concerns an application by The Federated Liquor and Allied Employees' Union of Australia, Tasmanian Branch (FLAIEU) to vary the Licensed Clubs Award in respect of occupational superannuation.

The award already contains detailed provisions relating to the compulsory contribution by employers into approved occupational superannuation funds in respect of eligible employees.

The FLAIEU has sought to vary current provisions only to the extent of substituting the name of the fund known as HOST PLUS for the currently prescribed funds known as CLUB PLUS. However the proposal is not to affect separate arrangements specified in Appendix B of the award.

Mr Sherry for the FLAIEU traced the history of developments relevant to the application and outlined the reasons for the necessity to substitute one scheme for another and the mutual benefits of scale which will flow from such a substitution.

Sworn supporting evidence was also given, together with a number of exhibits.

Based upon the evidence and material presented, together with the consent of all parties the application is approved. Accordingly the award will be varied by substituting the name of HOST PLUS for CLUB PLUS wherever occurring, except that "Appendix B" will be unaffected.

Operative Date

The variation shall come into operation as from the beginning of the first full pay period to commence on or after 3 April 1992.

Order is attached.
