COMMISSIONER R J WATLING

Award variation - Clause 6 - Parties and Persons Bound - Name change following amalgamation

REASONS FOR DECISION

These applications were made by the Construction Forestry and Mining Employees Union, Tasmanian Branch (CFMEU) for the purpose of changing the name of the Building Workers' Industrial Union of Australia, Tasmanian Branch (BWIU), appearing in Clause 6 - Parties and Persons Bound of the Building Trades Award, Building and Construction Industry Award and the Monumental Masons Award.

Mr Clifford appearing for the CFMEU took the Commission through a series of steps showing where the BWIU had changed its name to the CFMEU and how the appropriate changes had been acknowledged by the Registrar of the Commission and the Commission itself.

I am satisfied that the BWIU has changed its name and that name will be reflected in the three awards being the subject of this application and I decide accordingly.

The Orders giving effect to this decision are attached and will be operative from 10 June 1992.
