Award variation ‑ second minimum rates adjustment

REASONS FOR DECISION

The Metal and Engineering Workers' Union (MEWU) sought the variation of the Surveyors (Private Industry) Award to give effect to the second minimum rates adjustment.

The basis for the second and subsequent minimum rates adjustments was discussed in my Reasons for Decision dated 13 July 1992 in matter T.2316 of 1990.   Referral to that decision will indicate that classifications C1 to C4 are subject to 6 monthly MRA adjustments and above that level on a 12 monthly basis.

Accordingly the award will be varied to give effect to the second minimum rates adjustment in that C1 to C4 classifications only will be varied.   Consequential variations will also be made to Junior and Technical Assistant rates of pay as these are based on percentages relative to the C1 and C2 classifications.

The order, operative from the first full pay period to commence on or after 23 March 1993, is attached.
