TASMANIAN INDUSTRIAL COMMISSION

Industrial Relations Act 1984
s.23 application to vary an award

Federated Clerks Union of Australia, Tasmanian Branch
(T.4410 of 1993)

PRINTERS AWARD

COMMISSIONER P A IMLACH

28 June 1993

Wage rates - minimum rates adjustment - 2nd increase

REASONS FOR DECISION

This was an application by the Federated Clerks Union of Australia, Tasmanian Branch (the Union) for the second Minimum Rates Adjustment (MRA) to be implemented in the Printers Award (the Award).

The Union referred to matter T.3923 of 1992 which began the MRA process in the Award and sought for the second step to be implemented, as agreed, from 7 July 1993. A draft amendment to the Award, reflecting the relevant increases, was produced as an exhibit.

No other party appeared at the hearing, however, the Union also produced a letter from The Printing and Allied Trades Employers' Federation of Australia, Victorian Region advising of its inability to be represented at the hearing and confirming its consent to the claimed variation.

I am satisfied that the application reflects the original agreement as to the implementation of MRA's in the Award, it is in accordance with the Commission's current Guidelines and it is not against the public interest.

The application is granted and the amendment to the Award will operate from the first dull pay period commencing on or after 7 July 1993.

An order is attached.
