TASMANIAN INDUSTRIAL COMMISSION Industrial Relations Act 1984 Health Services Union of Australia, NURSING HOMES AWARD
Wage Rates - second increase of a series of phased adjustments emanating from SEP process - consent matter - award varied - ffpp 1 July 1993 REASONS FOR DECISION On 23 December, 1992, the Commission handed down a decision arising out of application T.Nos.3987 and 3926 of 1992 which restructured the Nursing Homes Award. That decision also noted the agreement of the parties to broadband classifications and establish classification relativities one to another resulting in wage increases for certain classifications. It was agreed that the abovementioned increases in wage rates should be phased in over four instalments for which separate applications be made on each occasion. This current application seeks to vary the Nursing Homes Award by increasing the wage rates contained therein reflecting the agreement of the parties to implement the second instalment. Having examined the application I am satisfied that it conforms with the Wage Fixing Principles and the Public Interest requirements of the Act. It also forms part of an agreed process arising out of the restructuring of this award. Therefore, the Commission has no hesitation in varying the award in the manner sought by the parties including the operative date i.e. from the first full pay period to commence on or after 1 July 1993. The Order giving effect to this decision is attached.
