Industrial Relations Act 1984
s.23 application for award or variation of award

Meat and Allied Trades' Federation of Australia
(Tasmanian Division)

(T.4486 of 1993)

ABATTOIRS AWARD

COMMISSIONER R.K. GOZZI

HOBART, 6 September 1993

Award variation - hours for clerks

REASONS FOR DECISION

In this matter the Meat and Allied Trades' Federation of Australia (Tasmanian Division) sought to vary the Abattoirs Award to rectify an oversight concerning hours of work for clerks. The circumstances were that when the award was varied the application in matter T.619 of 1986 did not exclude clerks, albeit that this should have been the case.

Having regard to the submissions of the parties in this matter I am satisfied that clerks were inadvertently included in application T.619 of 1986. Accordingly the award will be varied to reflect a 40-hour week for clerical employees; which are indeed the hours that have been and are being worked in this industry.

The order, operative from the first full pay period to commence on or after 3 May 1988, is attached.
