TASMANIAN INDUSTRIAL COMMISSION Industrial Relations Act 1984 Shop Distributive and Allied Employees Association RETAIL TRADES AWARD
Award variation - Retail Trades Award - relativity and loaded hourly rate in respect of Classification 3A REASONS FOR DECISION This application by the Shop Distributive and Allied Employees Association, Tasmanian Branch, sought to vary the Retail Trades Award by adjusting the relativity of the classification of Retail Employee Grade 3A in Clause 8 Wage Rates, with consequential adjustments to the same classification in Clause 20, Hourly Loaded Rate. Mr Griffin, for the union, informed the Commission that the application was in accordance with the classification structure inserted in the award in July 19921 and the appropriate operative date for the variation would be the first full pay period commencing on or after 1 September 1993. Mr Edwards, representing both the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Tasmanian Chamber of Retailers, indicated that the variation represented an agreed position between the parties to continue the process that had previously been set in place. It was observed that the application was in accordance with the Wage Fixing Principles of the Commission and did not offend public interest considerations. In the circumstances the application is granted and the award will be varied in the manner sought, operative from the first full pay period commencing on or after 1 September 1993. The order is attached.
