TASMANIAN INDUSTRIAL COMMISSION

Industrial Relations Act 1984
s.23 application for award variation

Australian Municipal, Administrative, Clerical and Services Union
(T.5399 of 1995)

OPTICAL INDUSTRIES AWARD

COMMISSIONER R J WATLING

HOBART, 17 March 1995

Wage rates - State Wage November 1989 - third minimum rates adjustment - Principles satisfied - consent matter - award varied - operative ffpp 27 March 1995

REASONS FOR DECISION

On 1 October 1993 the Commission handed down a decision arising out of applications T.4409 of 1993 and T.4399 of 1993, which determined a new classification structure for clerical and administrative employees and implemented the first of four minimum rate adjustments for all classifications contained in the award.

The parties foreshadowed during that hearing a further three applications would be made in order to complete the minimum rates adjustment process.

This current application, for the third minimum rates adjustment, comes before the Commission as a consent matter and conforms with the Wage Fixing Principles and the Public Interest requirements of the Act and the agreed minimum rates adjustment process for this award.

That being the case the award will be varied in the manner sought by the parties, i.e. from the first full pay period to commence on or after 27 March 1995.

The Order arising out of this application is attached.
