REASONS FOR DECISION
[1] This application, lodged pursuant to s.55 of the Industrial Relations Act 1984 by the Australian Education Union, Tasmanian Branch and the Minister Administering the State Service Act 2000, was for the purpose of filing an industrial agreement with the Commission.
[2] On 8 April 2008, the Commission convened a hearing at Commonwealth Law Courts, 39-41 Davey Street, Hobart, Tasmania to commence on Tuesday, 15 April 2008 at 9.00 am.
[3] The agreement, to be known as the An Even Start – National Tuition Program Conditions of Employment Agreement 2008, is to be operative on and from 1 March 2008 and it is to remain in force until 28 February 2009.
[5] Mr C Lane for the Australian Education Union, Tasmanian Branch and Ms S Haas for the Minister Administering the State Service Act 2000, presented submissions in support of the consent application.
[6] Having considered the consent submissions of the parties, I am satisfied the agreement is consistent with: the Wage Fixing Principles; and the public interest and no disadvantage tests required by the Act, and I decide accordingly.
[7] The file will now be referred to the Registrar in accordance with the requirements of s.56(1) of the Act.
