HOBART, 1 July 2009

Industrial agreement – application approved – operative date ffpp 5 March 2009 – to remain in force until 30 June 2013 – forwarded to Registrar for registration

REASONS FOR DECISION

[1] On 26 June 2009, the Minister Administering the State Service Act 2000 (the Minister) and The Community and Public Sector Union (State Public Services Federation Tasmania) Inc. (the CPSU) lodged with the Registrar, pursuant to s.55(2) of the Industrial Relations Act 1984, the Parks and Wildlife Industrial Agreement 2009.  The agreement applies to those employees who are assigned duties in the Parks and Wildlife Service.

[2] When this matter came on for hearing on 1 July 2009, Mr K Grey with Mr M Bryce and Mr M Hastie appeared for the Minister and Ms K Jackson with Ms A Bradshaw for the CPSU.

[3] Having considered the extensive consent submissions of the parties, I am satisfied the agreement is consistent with: the Wage Fixing Principles; and the public interest and no disadvantage tests required by the Act, and I decide accordingly.

[4] Pursuant to s.55(4) of the Act, the agreement is approved, operative on and from the first full pay period to commence on or after 5 March 2009, and shall remain in force until 30 June 2013.

[5] The file will now be referred to the Registrar for registration in accordance with the requirements of s.56(1) of the Act.
