Notice for Intending ApplicantsIn 2006 the Australian Government used the corporations power of the Constitution to regulate the employment relationships of employers who are constitutional corporations and their employees. From 1 July 2009 the Australian Government has created a new industrial tribunal - Fair Work Australia and industrial inspectorate - Office of the Fair Work Ombudsman to oversee a new workplace relations system. Details can be found at http://www.fairwork.gov.au (or call 13 13 94). Employees who are employed by a Constitutional Corporation may no longer be covered by the Industrial Relations Act 1984 (Tasmania). You will need to seek your own independent advice if you think that you may be affected by these changes to federal industrial laws. The Tasmanian Industrial Registry will accept applications that are lodged in accordance with the Industrial Relations Act 1984.
