TASMANIAN INDUSTRIAL COMMISSION Industrial Relations Act 1984 Automotive, Food, Metals & Engineering Union AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRIES AWARD
Award variations - Nominated Awards - Parties and Persons Bound clauses - Name change from Automotive, Metals & Engineering Union to Automotive, Food, Metals & Engineering Union REASONS FOR DECISON This application by the Automotive, Food, Metals & Engineering Union (AFMEU) sought to vary the Parties and Persons Bound clauses of all industrial awards of the Tasmanian Industrial Commission to which the Automotive, Food, Metals & Engineering Union is a party, and to remove the words "Automotive, Metals & Engineering Union" elsewhere appearing and to replace them with the words "Automotive, Food, Metals & Engineering Union". Mr Baker, appearing for the AFMEU, explained that the variation was a procedural matter arising out of a decision by the Registrar on 23 February 1994 in Matter TR.462 of 1994 concerning amalgamation of the Automotive, Metals & Engineering Union with the Confectionary Workers and Food Preservers Union of Australia. He said that as a consequence of that decision the certificates of the Automotive, Metals & Engineering Union and of the Confectionary Workers and Food Preservers Union were cancelled and the new union was registered. The present application was made to give effect to inserting the new name into the relevant awards. Mr Baker undertook to prepare and supply the Commission with a draft order for each award variation sought. In the circumstances, as indicated to Mr Baker, upon receipt of the draft orders, the awards will be varied as requested, effective from today's date. The orders will be issued by the Commission members who have responsibility for the awards nominated.
