Industrial Relations Act 1984
s.23 application for award or variation to award

Australian Rail, Tram and Bus Industry Union,
Tasmanian Branch

(T.4624 of 1993)

EMU BAY RAILWAY AWARD

COMMISSIONER R K GOZZI

HOBART, 15 November 1993

Award variation - alteration to union title

REASONS FOR DECISION

Following the amalgamation of the Australian Railways Union (ARU), the Australian Federated Union of Locomotive Enginemen (AFULE), The Australian Tramway and Motor Omnibus Employees Association (ATMOEA) and the National Union of Rail Workers Australia (NURWA) the AFULE, ATMOEA and NURWA were de-registered. The ARU remained registered but its name was changed to Australian Rail, Tram and Bus Industry Union.

The name change was effected by the Registrar on 9 June 1993 and the appropriate amendment was made to the ARU's Certificate of Registration.

Accordingly the Australian Rail, Tram and Bus Industry Union sought the deletion from the "Parties and Persons Bound" clause and from other clauses of the Emu Bay Railway Award any reference to the ARU and including in lieu the Australian Rail, Tram and Bus Industry Union, Tasmanian Branch.

The variations to the award are endorsed operative from 12 November 1993.

The order is attached.
