(T12863 of 2006)

TASMANIAN AMBULANCE SERVICE PATIENT EXTRICATION
(PRESERVATION OF ENTITLEMENTS) AGREEMENT 2006

COMMISSIONER T J ABEY

HOBART, 10 January 2007

Industrial agreement - application approved - operative date 16 August 2006 - 3 years - forwarded to Registrar for registration

REASONS FOR DECISION

[1] On 21 December 2006, the Minister administering the State Service Act 2000 and the Health Services Union of Australia, Tasmania No. 1 Branch lodged with the Registrar, pursuant to Section 55(2) of the Industrial Relations Act 1984, the Tasmanian Ambulance Service Patient Extrication (Preservation of Entitlements) Agreement 2006.

[2] When this matter came on for hearing on 9 January 2007, Ms J Cox appeared for the Minister and Mr T Jacobson appeared for the HSUA.

[3] Mr Jacobson explained that the purpose of this agreement was to preserve entitlements of employees currently holding qualifications in Patient Extrication consequent on the transfer of road accident rescue from the Ambulance Service to the Fire Service.

[4] Ms Cox supported the submissions of Mr Jacobson.

[5] I am satisfied that the agreement is consistent with both the Wage Fixing Principles and the public interest requirements of the Act, and does not disadvantage the employees concerned.

[6] Pursuant to s.55(4) of the Act the agreement is approved operative from 16 August 2006 and shall remain in force for a period of three years.

The file will now be referred to the Registrar for registration in accordance with the requirements of Section 56(1) of the Act.
