T229

IN THE TASMANIAN INDUSTRIAL COMMISSION

Industrial Relations Act 1984

T 229 of 1985 IN THE MATTER OF an application by the POLICE ASSOCIATION OF TASMANIA to vary the POLICE AWARD

Re recreation leave allowance

PRESIDENT 15 October 1985

REASONS FOR DECISION

APPEARANCES:

For the Police Association
of Tasmania
- Mr G R McDermott

For the Commissioner of Police - Mr A B Swinton

DATE AND PLACE OF HEARING:

15 October 1985         Hobart

This application came before the Commission consequent on the Full Bench Decision in Matter T205 of 1985, dated 27 September 1985.

In its decision of that date, the Full Bench decided to increase the maximum amount payable for recreation leave allowance from $339 per annum to $362 per annum.

Having heard from Mr G R McDermott for the Police Association of Tasmania, and Assistant Commissioner Swinton representing the Commissioner of Police, I am satisfied that this award, along with many other public sector awards, has for some years now contained an identical recreation leave allowance provision to that included in the "parent" General Conditions of Service Award. I am also persuaded no violence will be done to the principles of wage determination should the claim be granted.

I have therefore decided to approve the application with effect from 1 January 1986.
