IN THE TASMANIAN INDUSTRIAL COMMISSION

Industrial Relations Act 1984

T.948 of 1987 IN THE MATTER OF AN APPLICATION BY THE CONFEDERATION OF INDUSTRIES TO VARY THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRIES AWARD

  RE:  SCOPE

COMMISSIONER J.G. KING HOBART, 8 October 1987

REASONS FOR DECISION

APPEARANCES:

For the Tasmanian Confederation
of Industries
- Mr T.J.Abey

DATE AND PLACE OF HEARING:

1 October 1987              Hobart

This decision confirms my announcement at -the conclusion of application to vary the Automotive Industries Award, lodged by the Tasmanian Confederation of Industries:

"By deleting subclause (c) of Clause 2 Scope' and inserting in lieu thereof the following -

    (c) builder, repairer, wrecker or seller of motor bodies, motor vehicles and caravans."

The application was amended during the hearing of this matter by the addition of the word "trailers". The overall effect of the application is to add to the existing wording in subclause (c) of Clause 2 - Scope, the words "caravans and trailers".

The application seeks to overcome a deficiency in the existing scope clause and in doing so brings it into line with counterpart Federal awards.

The abovenamed award will be varied from the first pay period commencing on or after 1 October 1987. An order reflecting this decision is attached.

J.G. King
