DATE AND PLACE OF HEARING:

26 May 1988 Hobart

In line with the Full Bench decision of this Commission in matter T.33 of 1985 (dated 13 June 1985) and the provisions of the General Conditions of Service Award, the kilometreage allowance provisions of that award have been subsequently varied on a six monthly basis to reflect movement in the Hobart CPI indicator of such costs, the Transportation Group Private Motoring subgroup.

Such adjustments have been in accordance with Principle 6(a)(i) of the Principles of Wage Fixation adopted by this Commission, and have been awarded in the past by the Commission as presently constituted.

Similarly, on this occasion, the Commission is being requested to update the allowances having regard to the March quarter CPI data, and to likewise vary two other public sector awards in which the same provisions have in whole or in part been reproduced, namely the Advanced Education Service Award and the Police Award.

The parties are in agreement with the results produced by the relevant formula used for calculations of the rates, and as indicated in transcript, the proposed award variations are endorsed.

The variations shall be operative from the beginning of the first full pay period commencing on or after 5 May 1988 and the respective orders are attached.
