T1559

IN THE TASMANIAN INDUSTRIAL COMMISSION

Industrial Relations Act 1984

T.1559 of 1988

IN THE MATTER OF AN APPLICATION BY THE TASMANIAN PUBLIC SERVICE ASSOCIATION TO VARY THE POLICE DEPARTMENTAL EMPLOYEES AND ROAD SAFETY OFFICERS AWARD

RE: HIGHER AND MORE RESPONSIBLE DUTIES ALLOWANCE

COMMISSIONER R.K. GOZZI

HOBART, 3 October 1988

REASONS FOR DECISION

APPEARANCES:

For the Tasmanian Public Service Association

- Mr J. Geursen

For the Minister for Public Administration

- Mr C. Willingham

DATE AND PLACE OF HEARING:

16 September 1988 Hobart

This application concerns the consent variation of the Police Departmental Employees and Road Safety Officers Award (the Award) in respect of including in the Award the benefits of improved Higher Duties and More Responsible Duties provisions determined by a Full Bench in matter T.760 of 1987.

This was one of a number of applications to vary awards of this Commission to include appropriate reference to the above provisions.

As there is no impediment for this to be done, the variation as requested by the parties is endorsed.

However, I do not intend at this stage to delete Clause 16 Recreation Leave Allowances. In respect of that matter the Commission was not addressed in detail as to why conditions of employment comprehensively set out in the Award for inter alia the benefit of employees, should now be deleted and picked up in a shorthand way in Clause 9 - Allowances.

My order giving effect to this decision, operative from the first full pay period commencing on or after 26 September 1988, is attached.

R.K. Gozzi
