T1667
IN THE TASMANIAN INDUSTRIAL COMMISSION Industrial Relations Act 1984
This application by the Ambulance Employees Association of Tasmania (the Association) seeks to adjust expense related allowances in the Tasmanian Ambulance Service Award by 6.86%; being the movement in the all capitals CPI for the June, September, December 1987 and March 1988 quarters. Similar applications were before a Full Bench1 which in awarding the foregoing percentage increase comprehensively addressed the relevant issues in accordance with the Allowances Principle. In the circumstances the parties in this matter requested the Commission to increase the relevant expense related allowances contained in the award. I am satisfied that the nominated allowances in the application are existing allowances which enable the reimbursement of expenses incurred. Therefore as provided by the Allowances Principle (a) Existing Allowances, the increases requested to be made are granted. In the course of proceedings the Association was given leave to amend its application to facilitate the variation of the award to reflect a particular second tier offset. This relates to the deletion from Clause 9 (g) of the award - Meal Allowance - the provision for the payment of $1.75 for "public contract" attendance. The deletion as requested is endorsed. The operative date for the above variations will be the first pay period commencing on or after the date of this decision. The Order is attached hereto.
