T1778 - King - 10 February

IN THE TASMANIAN INDUSTRIAL COMMISSION

Industrial Relations Act 1984

T.1778 of 1988 IN THE MATTER OF PROCEEDINGS ON THE MOTION OF THE COMMISSION PURSUANT TO SECTION 24(3) OF THE INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS ACT 1984 TO VARY THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRIES, FUEL MERCHANTS, PRODUCE AND SOFTGOODS AWARDS

  RE: PARTIES AND PERSONS BOUND

COMMISSIONER J.G. KING HOBART, 10 February 1989

REASONS FOR DECISION

Further to the decision of the Full Bench in matter T.1778 of 1988, this matter was re listed on the motion of the Commission pursuant to Section 24(3) of the Industrial Relations Act 1984.

The purpose of the hearing was to include the National Union of Storeworkers, Packers, Rubber and Allied Workers, Tasmanian Branch in the Parties and Persons Bound Clauses of the Automotive Industries, Fuel Merchants, Produce and Softgoods Awards in lieu of the Federated Storemen and Packers Union of Australia, Tasmanian Branch.

The above change became necessary following the amalgamation of the Federated Storeman and Packers Union of Australia and the Federated Rubber and Allied Workers of Australia, endorsed by the Federal Deputy Industrial Registrar effective from 14 December 1988.

Although the public hearing, scheduled for 26 January 1989, did not take place, I was advised by a representative of the previously named Federated Storemen and Packers Union of Australia, Tasmanian Branch and the Tasmanian Confederation of Industries that those organisations had no objection to the proposed changes.

Therefore, having regard to the decision of the Full Bench and the consent detailed above, the awards will be varied in the terms earlier described.

The Commission's orders are attached.

J.G. King
COMMISSIONER
