T1788

IN THE TASMANIAN INDUSTRIAL COMMISSION

Industrial Relations Act 1984

T.1788 of 1988 IN THE MATTER OF AN APPLICATION BY THE HOSPITAL EMPLOYEES FEDERATION OF AUSTRALIA, TASMANIA NO 2 BRANCH TO VARY THE WELFARE AND VOLUNTARY AGENCIES AWARD

RE: ANNUAL LEAVE AND PUBLIC HOLIDAYS

OMMISSIONER R K GOZZI HOBART, 13 January 1989

REASONS FOR DECISION

APPEARANCES:

For the Hospital Employees
Federation of Australia,
Tasmania No 2 Branch
- Mr D. Holden

For the Tasmanian Confederation
of Industries
- Mr M Sertori

DATE AND PLACE OF HEARING:

21 December 1988        Hobart

The Welfare and Voluntary Agencies Award is comprised of Divisions A, B, C, D and E most of which have been comprehensively rewritten by Mr Holden and Mr Sertori to improve the format and language of the award.

The resultant variations were made by the Commission commensurate with the introduction of cost offsets into the award as a consequence of the granting of the 4 per cent second tier increase.

In the re-drafting of the award provisions for projected roster payment for the period of annual leave for shift workers and rate of payment for working on a public holiday including time off in lieu, were omitted from the award.

Accordingly this application by the Hospital Employees Federation of Australia, Tasmania No 2 Branch, consented to by the Tasmanian Confederation of Industries seeks to do no more than to re-establish the status quo in the award in respect of the aforementioned conditions of employment.

As indicated to the parties in the proceedings, the Commission now confirms its endorsement of the variations.

The operative date will be from the beginning of the first full pay period which commenced on or after 1 August 1988.
