This application seeks to delete subclauses 18.2 and 18.3 from the Police Award (the Award) and replace them with the following:
"18.2 Special Duty - Australian Bureau of Criminal Intelligence
Until further order, a married member required to perform duty in Canberra, or other Australian mainland state capital, as a seconded member of the Australian Bureau of Criminal Intelligence, shall be charged a rental of not more than $20.00 per week whilst occupying accommodation of a standard approved by the controlling authority.
18.3 Special Duty - National Crimes Authority
Until further order, a married member required to perform duty in any mainland state capital, as a seconded member of the National Crimes Authority, shall be charged a rental of not more than $20.00 per week whilst occupying accommodation of a standard approved by the controlling authority."
The application of subclause 18.2 as it is currently worded in the award is restricted to Canberra and subclause 18.3 to Sydney and Melbourne.
The changes sought therefore are simply to extend the application of the current subclauses to cover all state capital cities.
2 The application is by consent of the parties and does not offend the Wage Fixation Principles or the public interest provisions of the Industrial Relations Act 1984.
The award will therefore be varied from 9 March 1989. The Commission's order is attached.
