RE: EXEMPTIONS FOR CONN WOOL

COMMISSIONER R.K. GOZZI

HOBART, 28 September 1989

REASONS FOR DECISION

APPEARANCES:

For the National Union of Storeworkers, Packers, Rubber and Allied Workers, Tasmanian Branch

- Mr D. Strickland

DATES AND PLACE OF HEARING

27 September 1989  Hobart

This application by the National Union of Storeworkers, Packers, Rubber and Allied Workers (the Union) seeks the variation of the Produce Award (Division A) to include Conn Wool Pty Ltd as an exempted employer from the nominated funds (Tasplan and LUCRF) specified in the award.

The matter was first1 before the Commission by way of Section 29 proceedings when the Union agreed to Conn Wool continuing to use its own fund for occupational superannuation purposes.

The fund Conn Wool has in place is the Legal and General Employed Persons Superannuation Fund. I have been satisfied by the parties that the fund meets all of the requirements of the occupational superannuation guidelines and that it is appropriate for this fund to be included in the award.

Accordingly the variation contemplated by this application is endorsed, operative from the first pay period to commence on or after 1 July 1989.

The order is attached.
