IN THE TASMANIAN INDUSTRIAL COMMISSION

Industrial Relations Act 1984

T.2216 of 1989

IN THE MATTER OF AN APPLICATION BY THE TASMANIAN PUBLIC SERVICE ASSOCIATION TO VARY THE GENERAL CONDITIONS OF SERVICE AWARD

RE: KILOMETREAGE ALLOWANCE

DEPUTY PRESIDENT

HOBART, 1 December 1989

REASONS FOR DECISION

APPEARANCES:

For the Tasmanian Public Service Association

- Mr K Grey

For the Minister for Administering the State Service Act

- Mr JP McCabe

DATE AND PLACE OF HEARING:

28 November 1989  Hobart

This matter concerns an application by the Tasmanian Public Service Association to vary the General Conditions of Service Award by increasing kilometreage rates in accordance with a formula determined by an earlier Full Bench decision1.

The matter is one of consent and is intended to simply reflect the adjustment of an expense related allowance incurred by State servants who are required to use their private motor vehicles whilst travelling on duty.

I am satisfied that the application is consistent with both the requirements of the current Wage Fixation Principles and the decision of a Full Bench of this Commission in relation to this subject matter.

Accordingly the application is granted in the terms sought.

OPERATIVE DATE

This variation shall have effect from the first full pay period to commence on or after 7 November 1989, in accordance with the wishes of the parties.

The Order is attached.

A. Robinson
DEPUTY PRESIDENT
