  Decision Appealed - See T799

Industrial Relations Act 1984

T701 of 1987 IN THE MATTER OF AN APPLICATION BY THE TASMANIAN PUBLIC SERVICE ASSOCIATION TO VARY THE LIBRARIANS AWARD

RE: SALARY STRUCTURE, NEW CLASSIFICATIONS AND CONSEQUENTIAL AMENDMENTS

COMMISSIONER R. J. WATLING HOBART, 15 February 1989

REASONS FOR DECISION

APPEARANCES:

For The Tasmanian Public Service
Association
- Mr. G. Vines

For the Minister for Public
Administration
- Mr. C. Willingham

DATE AND PLACE OF HEARING:
9 February 1989 Hobart

On 10 March 1987 The Tasmanian Public Service Association made application to vary the Librarians Award to insert a new classification; a salary structure and consequential amendments.

The matter came before the Commission on 24 March 1987 and, after hearing preliminary submissions on procedural matters and the Wage Fixing Principles, I handed down an interim decision on 14 May 1987.

The TPSA then lodged an appeal against the interim decision which was dismissed by a Full Bench of the Commission on 8 July 1987 (T799 of 1987).

At the request of the applicant, the hearing resumed on 9 February 1989 at which time Mr. G. Vines, representing the Association, sought leave of the Commission to withdraw the application.

This course of action was not opposed by the other parties to the award.

Decision:

Leave to withdraw application T701 of 1987 is granted and the file will now be closed on this matter.
