TASMANIAN INDUSTRIAL COMMISSION

Industrial Relations Act 1984
s.23 application for variation of award

Metals and Engineering Workers' Union
(T.3098 of 1991)

MECHANICAL ENGINEERS AND FOUNDERS AWARD

COMMISSIONER R J WATLING

8 August 1991

Insertion of new clause - Trainees Engineering Associate - granted - allowance for technical computing - withdrawn

REASONS FOR DECISION

The Mechanical Engineers and Founders Award (No. 1 of 1989) contained a provision in Clause 8, Division D - Draughting Officers, Production Planners and Technical Officers for trainees falling within that Division.

When the parties prepared the orders which revamped the award to give effect to the decision which granted the second structural efficiency increase31 the clause was inadvertently omitted.

This application made by the Metals and Engineering Workers' Union seeks to re-insert that provision.

This clause, which is supported by all parties, will be reinstated to its position within the award in the form suggested by the parties and operative from the first full pay period on or after 2 August 1991.

The other part of this application which sought an "allowance for the application of technical computing" was withdrawn by the applicant with leave of the Commission.

The orders giving effect to this decision is attached.
