Industrial dispute - uniforms

RECOMMENDATIONS

In this matter the Ambulance Employees Association of Tasmania raised a number of matters including the issue of jumpers as a standard uniform item.

With respect to the issue of jumpers I recommend that:

1.  New trousers issue as proposed by the Tasmanian Ambulance Service be immediately trialed.

2.  During the course of the trial those individual employees who can demonstrate a need for a jumper will be immediately issued with one.

3.  In the event the trial of the new type of trousers is successful then jumpers will form part of the standard uniform issue.

4.  Further, in the event the trial of the new trousers results in a rejection of those trousers by the AEAT, the issue of jumpers as indicated above will cease.

It is considered by the Tasmanian Ambulance Service that the new trousers will produce cost savings which will facilitate the purchase of jumpers and that this will not prejudice the 2/5th uniform cost savings required to be achieved as a consequence of the 4% second tier agreement.
