(T.3227 of 1991)

WIREWORKING AWARD

COMMISSIONER P A IMLACH

18 October 1991

Wage rates - State Wage August 1991 - Structural Efficiency Principle

REASONS FOR DECISION

This was an application made by the Federation of Industrial, Manufacturing and Engineering Employees, Tasmania Branch (the FIMEE) for the August 1991 State Wage Case (SWC) decision 2.5% increase to be implemented in the Wireworking Award (the Award).

At the hearing the FIMEE confirmed that already it had lodged a commitment to the Wage Principles as required and submitted that, especially through the second Structural Efficiency Principle (SEP) increase review and changes to the Award, the SEP requirements in the SWC decision had all been met. FIMEE also advised that it was the intention of the parties for the Minimum Rates Adjustment (MRA) process to proceed in the near future.

The FIMEE sought for the first full pay period commencing on or after 6 September 1991 to be the operative date for the increases sought by this application.

The Transport Workers' Union of Australia, Tasmanian Branch supported the submissions of the FIMEE including the operative date sought.

The Tasmanian Confederation of Industries (the Confederation) confirmed its agreement to the application and in so doing canvassed the requirements and their application in the Award. The TCI agreed to the operative date sought.

I am satisfied that the requirements of the SEP in the SWC decision have been met in this matter and the Award will be amended by increasing all wage rates and work related allowances therein by 2.5% operative from the first full pay period commencing on or after 6 September 1991.

An order is attached.
