MECHANICAL ENGINEERS AND FOUNDERS AWARD

COMMISSIONER R J WATLING

23 September 1991

Wage Rates - Work related allowances - State Wage Case August 1991 - 2.5% increase - granted - Third minimum rates adjustment - granted

REASONS FOR DECISION

These applications sought to vary the Mechanical Engineers and Founders to reflect

a) the 2.5% increase in wage rates and work related allowances arising out of the 13 August 1991 State Wage Case decision and

b) the third minimum rates adjustment.

These matters are ones of consent and the parties were able to satisfy the Commission that the criteria outlined in Principle 2 - Structural Efficiency, items (a) to (g), had been complied with. Indeed virtually all of the requirements of the Principle were comprehended in the second structural efficiency adjustment.

The parties also presented an agreed position (Exhibit TCI - 1) on a new provision to be inserted in the award in relation to the employment of part-time employees.

In the circumstances the award will be varied from the first full pay period to commence on or after 12 September 1991 for the 2.5% increase and from the first full pay period to commence on or after 10 October 1991 for the third minimum rates adjustment.

The orders giving effect to applications T.Nos. 3345, 3228 and 3333 of 1991 are attached and the orders giving effect to T. 3327 of 1991 will follow in due course.
