TASMANIAN INDUSTRIAL COMMISSION

Industrial Relations Act 1984
s.23 application for award or variation of award

Electrical Trades Union of Australia
Tasmanian Branch

(T.3366 of 1991)

ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC (PUBLIC SECTOR) AWARD

COMMISSIONER R J WATLING

15 October 1991

Wage rates - work related allowances - State Wage Case August 1991 - 2.5% increase - granted

REASONS FOR DECISION

On the 30th August 1991 a Full Bench of the Commission varied 65 public sector awards in the line with the State Wage Case decision handed down on the 13th August 1991.

This application should have been part of those proceedings, however it arrived after the case had concluded.

In this matter the Electrical Trades Union of Australia, Tasmanian Branch sought to vary the Electrical Electronic (Public Sector) Award in the same manner and for the same reasons as all other public sector awards were varied.

This application was not opposed by Mr C Willingham appearing for the Minister administering the Tasmanian State Service Act 1984. He maintained it would be denying industrial fair play to employees covered by this award if they were not treated in a similar manner to those covered by the Full Bench decision dealing with other Public Sector Employees.

This application is granted in the manner sought by the parties for the same reasons outlined in the Full Bench decision dated 30th August 1991.

The order giving effect to this decision is attached.
