TASMANIAN INDUSTRIAL COMMISSION Industrial Relations Act 1984 The Amalgamated Footwear and Textile Workers' Union of Australia, TEXTILE AWARD
Structural Efficiency Principle - second stage REASONS FOR DECISION In this matter The Amalgamated Footwear and Textile Workers' Union of Australia, Tasmanian Branch, sought the consent variation of the Textile Award to reflect the second instalment structural efficiency adjustment. The Textile Award provides coverage for employees and employers not regulated by the federal "The Amalgamated Footwear and Textile Workers Award" and in that regard the State award does not have wide application. Notwithstanding, the parties in respect of the State award completed a structural efficiency review of the award resulting in a number of proposed variations going to the extension of the times for taking annual leave; enterprise agreement provisions; time off in lieu arrangements when work is undertaken on a public holiday or overtime is worked; the introduction of a new classification - Canteen Workers to 4 months service (thereafter). In addition to the foregoing I was informed that the Federated Clerks Union of Australia, Tasmanian Branch, and the Tasmanian Confederation of Industries had reached agreement for the deletion of Division B - Clerks from the award. This matter will be pursued by the parties by way of separate application. In this matter I was satisfied that the necessary steps in accordance with the Structural Efficiency Principle had been undertaken by the parties to support the granting of the second stage structural efficiency adjustment. Accordingly the award will be varied operative from the first full pay period to commence on or after 27 September 1991. The order is attached.
