TASMANIAN INDUSTRIAL COMMISSION

Industrial Relations Act 1984
s.65A application for determination of award interest

Metals and Engineering Workers' Union
(T.3610 of 1991)

PLUMBERS AWARD

COMMISSIONER R J WATLING

21 May 1992

Award interest - determination

REASONS FOR DECISION

This application was lodged by the Metals and Engineering Workers' Union (the union) pursuant to section 65 (A) of the Industrial Relations Act 1984 for leave to recall the certificate of registration on the grounds that the organisation no longer had an interest in the Plumbers Award.

The Commission was informed that the reason the union sought and was granted an interest in the Plumbers Award was because the scope of that award covered sheetmetal working.

Application T.3609 of 1991 has amended the Plumbers Award to ensure that sheetmetal working in that award is only in relation to plumbing work (as defined). As a result the applicant was of the opinion that they no longer had an interest in the said award.

That being the case I am prepared to endorse the submission of the applicant and recommend to the Registrar that their certificate of registration be recalled and reissued deleting the Plumbers Award from that certificate.

The operative date of this decision shall be the first full pay period to commence on or after 1 June 1992. Order
