TASMANIAN INDUSTRIAL COMMISSION Industrial Relations Act 1984 Tasmanian Confederation of Industries DRAUGHTING AND TECHNICAL OFFICERS (PRIVATE INDUSTRY) AWARD
Award variation - Scope REASONS FOR DECISION This application by the Tasmanian Confederation of Industries (TCI) was to vary the Scope Clause of the Draughting and Technical Officers (Private Industry) Award to reflect a clear distinction between the application and incidence of this award and that of the Metal and Engineering Industry Award. This latter was made1 in December last year and replaced the Mechanical Engineering and Founders Award. In effect the variation proposed by the TCI simply provides an exclusion in the scope clause to show that persons employed in drafting or technical duties and for other associated duties as defined in the Draughting and Technical Officers (Private Industry) Award are not covered by that award where the Metal and Engineering Award has application. Mr Baker appearing for the Metals and Engineering Workers Union supported the variation. I consider the proposed variation achieves the classification sought and accordingly it is endorsed operative from the date of this decision. The order [correction order] is attached.
