TASMANIAN INDUSTRIAL COMMISSION

Industrial Relations Act 1984
s.23 application for award or variation of award

Tasmanian Confederation of Industries
(T.3873 of 1992)

DRAUGHTING AND TECHNICAL OFFICERS (PRIVATE INDUSTRY) AWARD

COMMISSIONER R.K. GOZZI

HOBART 22 July 1992

Award variation - Definitions - Wage Rates - Structural Efficiency Principle - finalisation of transition implementation period

REASONS FOR DECISION

In this matter the Tasmanian Confederation of Industries sought the variation of the Draughting and Technical Officers (Private Industry) Award to include updated definitions and classification salary structure to appropriately reflect the outcome of structural efficiency matters considered and endorsed by the Commission in earlier proceedings1. In those particular proceedings the parties advocated retaining the "old" and "new" classification structures so as to enable them to operate side by side until the date that the "new" structure, arising from structural efficiency negotiations, would commence to operate exclusively. The date of operation2 was the first pay period to commence on or after 11 April 1991.

In these current proceedings the parties requested that I now vary the award to only contain the "new" classifications and relevant definitions. Additionally to rectify an oversight an Annualised Salary and Trainees provision was also requested to be included in the award.

The foregoing variations reflect the intention of the Commission's decision in T.2955 of 1991 and accordingly are endorsed operative from the date of this decision.

The order [correction order] is attached.
