BOOTMAKERS AWARD

COMMISSIONER R.K. GOZZI

HOBART, 16 October 1992

Second minimum rates adjustment

REASONS FOR DECISION

In this matter the Textile, Clothing and Footwear Union of Australia, Tasmanian Branch (TCFU) sought the variation of Divisions A and B of the Bootmakers Award for the second minimum rates adjustments (MRA's).

The first MRA for Divisions A and B were endorsed by the Commission operative from the first pay period to commence on or after 10 February 1992 (T.3639 of 1991). At that time the parties were in agreement that subsequent MRAs, would be sought at six monthly intervals. However as the Amalgamated Footwear and Textile Workers Union of Australia, Tasmanian Branch amalgamated with the Clothing and Allied Trades Union of Australia, Victorian Branch, application for the second MRA was delayed beyond 10 August 1992 which was the agreed date, subject to application, between the parties in matter T.3639 of 1991.

In the circumstances I am pleased to record and endorse the consent of the parties for the second MRA to operate from the first pay period to commence on or after 16 October 1992. To realign the agreed implementation date for the third MRA, the parties agreed that an application would be made within four months of the operative date by the TCFU to facilitate consideration by the Commission of those MRA's.

The order is attached.
