TASMANIAN INDUSTRIAL COMMISSION Industrial Relations Act 1984 National Union of Workers
Award variation - deletion of National Union of Workers Tasmanian Branch from Clause 6 - Parties and Persons Bound REASONS FOR DECISION These applications were lodged by National Union of Workers, Tasmanian Branch for the purpose of: (1) having their certificate of registration recalled, pursuant to section 65A of the Act, and reissued with the deletion of the Electrical Engineers Award , and (2) varying the Electrical Engineers Award, pursuant to section 23 of the Act, by deleting the applicant from Clause 6 - Parties and Persons Bound Mr Strickland for the applicant informed the Commission that initially their interest in the Electrical Engineers Award came about because that award regulated wage rates and conditions of employment for employees of wholesalers of electrical goods of which the organisation he represented had constitutional coverage. As that category of employee was no longer covered by the Electrical Engineers Award Mr Strickland saw no useful purpose being served by their continued interest in that award and as a consequence he requested the Commission to endorse the applications. I am satisfied with the submissions presented by the applicant and I hereby determine: (1) that the National Union of Workers, Tasmanian Branch's certificate of registration be withdrawn and reissued deleting the name of the Electrical Engineers Award, and (2) the Electrical Engineers award be varied deleting the name of the National Union of Workers, Tasmanian Branch from Clause 6 - Parties and Persons Bound.
