Award variation - minimum rates adjustment

REASONS FOR DECISION

This was an application made by the Australian Liquor, Hospitality and Miscellaneous Workers Union, Tasmanian Branch (the Union) for the second minimum rates adjustment (MRA) to be applied to the Miscellaneous Workers Award (the Award).

The Union, in its submissions, produced a draft order as an exhibit and advised that it reflected the implementation of the second MRA in the Award in accordance with the procedure agreed previously before the Commission1.

Consistent with that previous arrangement the Union sought for the proposed amendment to operate from the first full pay period commencing on or after 1 February 1993.

The Tasmanian Confederation of Industries (the Confederation) advised its consent to the application and endorsed the draft order. The Confederation submitted that the amendment sought reflected the original agreement, was consistent with the relevant Guidelines of the Commission and it was not against the public interest.

The Confederation also indicated its agreement to the operative date sought.

I endorse the submissions of the parties; the application is granted operative from the first full pay period to commence on or after 1 February 1993.

An order is attached.
