TASMANIAN INDUSTRIAL COMMISSION

Industrial Relations Act 1984
s.23 application for variation of award

Federation of Industrial, Manufacturing and Engineering Employees,
Tasmania Branch

(T.4243 of 1992)

CEMENT MAKERS AWARD

COMMISSIONER P A IMLACH

4 March 1993

Award variation - parties and persons bound

REASONS FOR DECISION

This was an application by the Federation of Industrial, Manufacturing and Engineering Employees, Tasmania Branch (the Union) for an amendment to be made to the Cement Makers Award (the Award).

The amendment sought was for the name of the Union to be inserted in the Parties and Persons Bound clause of the Award.

The application followed a decision of a full bench of the Commission in matter T.4120 of 1992 which recognised the amalgamation of the Amalgamated Society of Carpenters and Joiners, Tasmanian Branch (ASC&J Tas. Branch) and the Federation of Industrial, Manufacturing and Engineering Employees, Tasmania Branch to form the Union and cancelled the registration of the ASC&J Tas. Branch in this Commission.

The final step in the amalgamation of the unions, in so far as the Award was concerned, was the substance of the amendment sought in this application.

I am satisfied that the application is not against the public interest and it is granted operative from the date of the hearing, 26 February 1993.

An order is attached.
