COMMISSIONER R J WATLING

20 May 1993

Wage rates - State Wage November 1989 - Final minimum rates adjustment - Principles satisfied - consent matter - application granted - award varied - ffpp 19 May 1993

REASONS FOR DECISION

On 19 November, 1992, employees falling within the scope of the Fish, Aquaculture and Marine Products Award were awarded the third minimum rates adjustment.

This application, made by the Australian Workers Union, Tasmania Branch (AWU), sought to vary the said award to reflect the fourth and final minimum rates adjustment.

Mr Cooper for the AWU, Mr Holden for the Food Preservers Union of Australia, Tasmania Branch (FPU) and Mr Fitzgerald for the Tasmanian Confederation of Industries all requested the Commission to endorse the consent application.

Having heard the submissions of the parties, I hereby endorse the application, as it conforms with the Wage Fixing Principles and forms part of the agreed process arising out of the award restructuring programme.

The award will be varied in the manner sought by the parties and will be operative from the first full pay period to commence on after 19 May 1993.

The Order giving effect to this decision is attached.
