TASMANIAN INDUSTRIAL COMMISSION Industrial Relations Act 1984 Health Services Union of Australia NURSING HOMES AWARD
Wage rates - third increase of a series of phased adjustments emanating from SEP process - consent matter - award varied - ffpp 1 January 1994 REASONS FOR DECISION This application, made by the Health Services Union of Australia, Tasmania No. 1 Branch, was for the purpose of increasing the wage rates contained in the Nursing Homes Award to reflect the agreement of the parties to implement the third instalment of series of wage adjustments arising out of the restructuring programme for the said award. On 23 December 1992, the Commission handed down a decision, arising out of applications T.3987 and T.3926 of 1992, which saw the restructuring of the Nursing Homes Award under the Structural Efficiency Principle. At that time the parties agreed to phase in, over four instalments, the wage increases arising out of that restructuring. Having examined the submissions presented by the parties I am satisfied that the award should be varied in the manner sought as the application conforms with the Wage Fixing Principles and the Public Interest requirements of the Act and as stated earlier it forms part of the agreed process which has been previously endorsed by the Commission. The variations will be operative from the first full pay period to commence on or after 1 January, 1994 and the Order [correction order] giving effect to this decision is attached.
