Amalgamation

REASONS FOR DECISION

This is an application for amalgamation pursuant to Section 67A of the Act lodged jointly by the Metals and Engineering Workers' Union and the Vehicle Builders Employees Federation of Australia, Victorian Branch.

After hearing the applicants I am satisfied that the requirements of Section 67A(2)(a) and (b) have been met and accordingly the application is granted and the amalgamated organisation is registered effective from 5 April 1993.

In accordance with the requirements of Section 67(3)(a) for cancellation of registration, both applicant organisations will lose their identity and a certificate of registration in the name of the Automotive, Metals and Engineering Union will be issued bearing the names of those awards in which both of the deregistered organisations formerly held an interest.
