TASMANIAN INDUSTRIAL COMMISSION Industrial Relations Act 1984 The Australasian Meat Industry Employees Union MEAT TRADES AWARD
Award variation - call back, Saturday work, standing by, transport of employees and travelling time REASONS FOR DECISION These applications by the Australasian Meat Industry Employees Union, Tasmanian Branch (AMIEU) which were joined for hearing purposes, concerned the inclusion in the award of provisions relating to call back, Saturday work, standing by, transport of employees and travelling time. The special case component of the State Wage Fixing Principles required that those claims relating to allowances, other than those provided for elsewhere in the Principles, to be processed as a special case. Accordingly after making the appropriate representations to the President, the specific allowance matters not otherwise contemplated by the Principles were referred to me as a special case. Subsequently when the matter was again before me, the parties indicated that further discussions may resolve the issues subject to the AMIEU claim. On that basis a further period of adjournment was granted. On resumption of hearing on 25 May 1994 Mr Edwards appearing for the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Limited (TCCI) informed the Commission that all matters had been resolved and all that was necessary was for the Commission to satisfy itself that the terms of settlement of the claims complied with the Wage Fixing Principles and the provisions of the Industrial Relations Act 1984 and in particular with Section 36. Having perused the draft order and taking into account the submissions of Mr Edwards and Mr Swallow the proposed variations as set out in Exhibit TCCI 1 are endorsed, operative from the first full pay period to commence on or after the date of this decision. The orders are attached.
