Industrial Relations Act 1984
s.23 application for award or variation of award

Australian Liquor, Hospitality and Miscellaneous Workers Union -
Tasmanian Branch

(T.4797 of 1994)

FIBREGLASS AND PLASTICS AWARD

COMMISSIONER R J WATLING

31 January 1994

Wage rates - State Wage Case December 1993 - arbitrated safety net adjustment - application granted - ffpp 31 January 1994

REASONS FOR DECISION

This application was made by the Australian Liquor, Hospitality and Miscellaneous Workers Union - Tasmanian Branch for the purpose of inserting, in the Fibreglass and Plastics Award, the $8.00 arbitrated safety net adjustment determined by the Commission in the State Wage Case decision dated 24 December 1993 (T.4692 of 1993).

The Commission was informed that the restructuring and minimum rates process had been completed in this award.

This is a consent application which is endorsed by the Commission as it is:

    (a) a minimum rates award;

    (b) complies with the Wage Fixing Principles; and

    (c) is not contrary to the public interest requirements of the Act.

The variations to the award will be operative from the first full pay period to commence on or after 31 January 1994. The orders [correction order] giving effect to this decision will follow in due course.

It should also be noted that just prior to this hearing the National Union of Workers, Tasmanian Branch had made an application (T.4848 of 1994) in similar terms to this application. Given my decision in this matter no useful purpose would be served by listing application T.4848 of 1994.
