TASMANIAN INDUSTRIAL COMMISSION Industrial Relations Act 1984 Health Services Union of Australia MEDICAL PRACTITIONERS (PRIVATE SECTOR) AWARD
Wage rates - State Wage Case December 1993 - arbitrated safety net adjustment - application granted - ffpp 1 February 1994 REASONS FOR DECISION This application was made by the Health Services Union of Australia Tasmania No. 1 Branch for the purpose of inserting, in the Medical Practitioners (Private Sector) Award, the $8.00 arbitrated safety net adjustment determined by the Commission in the State Wage Case decision dated 24 December 1993 (T.4692 of 1993). During the hearing, the parties acknowledged that very little had taken place in terms of the restructuring of this award and I note that it does not qualify for the 2.5% increase arising out of the State Wage Case decision of August 1991. No consideration has been given to minimum rates adjustments, nor have relativities been established between classifications. Notwithstanding the foregoing the parties requested the Commission to include the $8.00 safety net adjustment in this award, operative from the first full pay period to commence on or after 1 February 1994. I am prepared to accept the submissions of the parties and, as a result, vary the award in the manner sought, including the operative date. In granting the application it should not be interpreted that I endorse the lack of activity by the parties in terms of restructuring this award. It should be noted that the Commission still has a number of applications not yet concluded in respect to this award, and I hereby give notice that the following applications will be relisted for hearing:
The orders giving effect to this decision will follow in due course.
