Wage rates - conditions of employment - Career Start Trainees - application granted - award varied - ffpp 20 January 1994 REASONS FOR DECISION This application was lodged by The AWU-FIME Amalgamated Union, Tasmania Branch for the purpose of varying the Farming and Fruit Growing Award to provide for terms and conditions of employment, including rates of pay, for persons engaged under the Career Start Traineeship System. The Career Start Trainee System provides vocational training consistent with the needs of the industry and general skills appropriate to the workforce, and to enhance the skill levels and future employment prospects of Career Start Trainees. This is achieved through various vocational education and training pathways, including a combination of work, education and structured training. All parties to the award supported the application and requested the Commission to insert in the award the amendments outlined in Exhibit C6. The Commission endorses the application as it is not contrary to the Wage Fixing Principles nor the public interest requirements of the Act. The award will be amended in the terms agreed to by the parties and as outlined in Exhibit C6. This will be operative from the first full pay period to commence on or after 20 January 1994. The order giving effect to this decision will follow in due course.
